Brazilian rosewood at wildwood?

Are you talking about how the red is washed out on the butt-end? That's kinda what got me. I LOVE the guitar, don't get me wrong, but after seeing Sir Slub's and Daughtry's and Kenny's I was disappointed that the red was not done the same way. I was really thinking about going for it, but after seeing that red on the other 3 I just want one like those. Dammit! You guys spoiled me. Oh well. I have to be happy with what I have. I'm gonna grab Kenny's though when he's not looking...

I hope somebody here buys 16 though. It NEEDS a home here.

Those washed out ones at the bottom are a specific color ordered by WW called "Wildwood Burst".

I was talking about the flame. But after a few more looks I think it's because it's so flamed on top that the area above the bridge/TP looks somewhat barren. It's still very nice. If I had to have one, and was worried about missing the train, I wouldn't let this one pass.

I like it to. It triggered an old memory of this color Midnight Manhattan back when I started getting into LP's. It's not close to the WW but the washed-out side triggered that long ago memory.

Heard WW was getting 25. Anyone know the total number that will be produced? Less than 50, 100? (sorry if it's been mentioned already)

I read the number 100 somewhere. WW did 25. I believe CME did 25, too. Some people mentioned HOG is doing an unspecified number of M2M with BRW. If 100 if the total, we should expect one more Gibson dealer to do a run. Not sure who’s left?

My own reading of the tea leaves on this is that Gibson has wayyyy more boards than that. They needed to invest time, legal resources, etc. to procure the boards. I have a hard time believing they did it for only 100 boards...I expect to see them making stuff with brazilian boards for a while (and charging ridiculous amounts for it!).

Music Zoo is the last Benchmark Dealer to come to the table.

I'd expect they'd have a shot at this run also. I'm not sure if Gibson still has 'Benchmark Dealers' or if CME is even considered to be one. I know in the past Benchmark Dealers were the only ones allowed to post pictures of inventory online. So CME may have that status. HOG doesn't have that status and is getting a M2M Braz run. Willcutt's, another large non Benchmark dealer, also dropped Gibson so I'm not really sure what dealer would get the remaining 25 if not MZ. eace2

I have a question for the folks that have purchased these wonderful new Brazilian Rosewood Les Paul's .How is the quality of the new 2017 Brazilian board Les Paul's versus the 2003 run which if I remember correctly and certainly no Disrespect to anyone that had or has the 2003 run some critical comments and labels (stump wood ) were made . From the photos from Wildwood who by the way take some of the most highest quality photos of any store IMHO , the new Brazilian boards look fantastic especially the dark color of the Brazilian as if it's been stashed away and has been brought forward in a time machine .Kudos and compliments to the shop and Wildwood for this extra special quality run . Secondly how does the new Brazilian boards feel in your hand and how is the tone from these instruments along with all of the sonic property's of this most special run ?

I've never played one of the 2003 models, so I cannot comment on that... However, the 2017 versions are extraordinary in every way... This, in my opinion, is not necessarily attributed to the Brazilian board alone, and perhaps not at all... I think that it has more to do with the culmination of all the things, the entire package, that make this guitar so damned special, and it certainly IS! The overall build quality is ridiculously good... The guitar as a whole just feels right! The notes bloom and sustain like no other guitar I've ever played, even unplugged...

The bottom line is, this is the best Les Paul build to date... All the objections to Historic Les Pauls of the past have been met... They are what they are and there will be none better...

I have never owned or seen (in person) a BRW from 2003. I'm not an expert on these guitars by any means. I started my Historic "collection" only last year.

But with that disclaimer out of the way, here's my experience with the WW BRW run so far: they are amazing guitars. They not only look good, but they sound fantastic (you can read similar comments from CD, Mike, Kenny, and others). I'm waiting for the honeymoon stage to be over before I can say this with certainty, but this is the best sounding Les Paul guitar I have ever played. Very resonant, sustains forever, the neck is very comfortable to my hand, action is as low as I like it without buzzing (WW does a great setup), the fretboard is smooth as butter (bending is easier for me, compared to my other historics), everything looks and works perfectly (again, I'm still in the honeymoon period). Pickups are not your classic Custom Buckers. I believe they are supposed to be underwound. They are less in your face, I guess, but they sound great to my ears. I'm actually surprised about the clarity on the neck pickup. The guitar is also very responsive to dynamics. All in all, a fantastic instrument.

Note: you might read some comments from folks on the forums indicating that the fretboard only looks dark because of the lighting WW used when taking the pictures. That is false. They look as dark in person as they do in the pictures.

I have two of the 2003 Brazilians, and they are great guitars. I love the look of their fretboards - doesn't look like stump wood to me. :hank

Ok, so a few guys finally have these in hand. So what’s the concensus? aesthetically the board is darker than Indian rosewood, but cmon seriously some of the claims on here make them out to be super sonic in sound, I just can’t see outside of aesthetics and an increase in historical accuracy, making them any better sonically or in playability. Unless Brazilian rosewood posses some magical powers I’m not aware of, PRS uses Brazilian rosewood and they don’t sound any better than a Les Paul, yes I know two different guitars. Anyone else share the same thoughts? Let’s hear it.

Well Kenny, I’m sure we all know how you feel about yours lol! No need to elaborate further, but I just can’t see outside of the fretboard it being any better, just like I think my TH is the cats pajamas, it’s subjective.
