What Speakers would y'all run in a 2 by 10 Brown Vibroverb? I currently have Weber 10a125s and its really bright and trebly sounding. I was thinking of swapping speakers for Celestions G10 Gold Alnicos or Jupiter M10cs? Anyone have any thoughts on what I could swap it with?

Celestial Golds are good and will tone down the brightness. I like Eminence Legends also. And contrary to many criticisms of Italian-made Jensens, I have put them in many amps with no complaints.

In addition to the excellent recommendations above, you can also askJim at @ScumbackSpeakers for advice [I have no affiliation; just know he helps tailor to your needs].

Unfortunately, I think he only makes 12s now. I had a heavy magnet in a tweed tremolux that was awesome from him once upon a time.

Are the golds significantly louder over the Jensen reissues?

I honestly don’t crank my amps enough to know ultimate “loudness” of speakers. The Celestions are 40 watt speakers, and they usually need more break-in time to sound really good.

The Gold is brighter and more efficient by almost 5dB than the greenback (According to the graphs at Celestion's website)

Compared to the stock speakers in the 90s on vibroverbs, IMNSHO, the Celestions are all going to be brighter. Those stock "Jensen" speakers are pretty dull to me. I use Blues in everything.

I put Fat Jimmy’s in mine.
Which ones did you go with American or British style? Did you go lower or higher wattage?

The Jupiter speakers I'm looking at are also made by WGS like the Fat Jimmy's.

Not my experience, but hey, everyone hears something different.

I like the Celestion Gold 10s but I agree with Mike S - they're not particulary bright speakers. Nothing like Celestion Blue alnico speaker, IME. A good choice also if you want a bit more clean headroom.

But personally, what I would look for are some old Jensen P10PF alnico speakers. If you find some and they're blown, get them reconned by Gordon Kjellberg in Seattle. These are killer in Vibrolux Reverbs and in the brown Vibroverbs.

If you are looking for a warmer speaker, with a vintage voice, and clear yet silky smooth highs Fane AXA10's if you can find them.

If not, then one of these maybe...

The C1025’s. Jupiter spkrs are also excellent, I have used them and can recommend them as well.

I have a '63 Vibroverb Reissue and swapped out the Oxfords for the following. Huge tone improvement using both AlNiCo and Ceramic speakers. The amp now has a nice balanced tone, clean or overdriven.

•Weber 10F125P (Vintage Series Ceramic 10 inch Speaker)

•Weber 10A125P (Vintage Series AlNiCo 10 inch Speaker)

Recommend mounting the heavier speaker opposite side of the power transformer to help balance the overall amp weight.

I ended up going with a pair of G10 creamback speakers. I'm debating on if I go g10 alnico golds on my second one or another set of creambacks or greenbacks.

Thanks for reporting the conclusion... So many folks never bother, after receiving loads of wisdom here.

Good luck with the results! 🤙

They are going to need to break in. That will make a huge difference.
Find an adaptor cable and play iPhone/stereo music/ heck white noise thru them when you go to work.
Unrelated- my buddy is doing that with some recently acquired guitars- on a vibrating device.
Ok- leave that alone
