Here's a 59 beauty! 9-0895

But wait, that's the serial number listed for Gary Rossington's Bernice! :wah

But here's a clear photo of this one's serial number:

My guess is that someone misread the serial number on Bernice. It's an easy mistake that I have made myself more than once. But it would be hard to misread the number on this Burst. :ganz

Now we need some "detectives" to get a good look at Bernice's serial number!

But in the meantime, enjoy this gorgeous 59 beauty! :dude:

This is the only photo I have showing Bernice's serial #, but its not clear enough to read. I noticed as I was looking up this photo that its just four numbers from Ed Kings burst 9-0891.

A real beaut! Thanks Tom.
P.S. I posted an update after speaking to Ed Clark. He said he was the first to remove the covers. The '59 came with double whites in the neck, and double BLACKS, at the bridge.

Thanks a lot for these pics, Tom. It must have happened as you say, so I will go ahead and put "Bernice" under the "Unknown S/N" category. :salude

That's got to be one of the clearest S/N stamps I've seen here so far!

Yes, I remember that one - looking at it again it looks like 9 2012 or 9 2612, but I can't remember what it was eventually confirmed to be (probably neither of those two). The second number can appear to be a 3 as well. Perhaps you will provide a reminder, I can't remember which thread it was in.

I bet Julio wishes that all Bursts were stamped as clearly as 9 0895! Can you share some info on where the guitar resides, i.e. is it with yourself or a forum member? It has an incredible top, with the upper half appearing to be more flamey, although I've given up reading too much into photographs of Bursts.

This is the first time I felt a strong urge to sell everything for a piece of wood with metal on it!

Sure I do! :salude But I guess it is probably better to keep refining the info we have now, and hope to obtain the most accurate database in the future. :salude

Sold to me as 9-3012, which I agreed with. Later I figured it out. 9-2012
Now we know there weren't likely any serial numbers on Bursts that high. :)
