• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Burst Pic of the Week: Don't call me Bernice!

Has there been any update on the serial number being on both this guitar and Bernice simultaneously? 🤔

Surprising that no one could provide clarity either way!

Guitarbob,

Bernice is actually 9 0695 and it has a clean, clear black ink stamp that is easy to read, but the '6' could be mistaken for an '8' in a low-res picture. Unlike 9 0895, Bernice was no longer cherry on the back of the headstock (if it ever was) when I saw it up close about 25 years ago.

On a related note, Al Kooper showed me his original copy of the first Skynyrd recording contract and Bernice Rossington's signature is on it because Gary was still a minor.

on my 56 goldtop the 6 can easily be mistaken for an 8

Thanks for satisfying my mind! I was surprised the mistake could be made as the pictures of 9 0895 are so clear and I would have thought Bernice would be perfectly documented by now with it's provenance.

The contract thing sounds pretty cool too, hell, just meeting/spending time around Al Kooper would be great even without the stuff he must have stored away.

I miss TW.. I hope he's coming back soon
This is another point, more than anything I would love for Tom to be active again. The wealth of knowledge he provides is immense, I think he’s forgotten more about Les Paul’s than I’ll ever know!

Would be cool to see those gold top serials, I wonder how many have been misread over the years (I also wonder how many have turned up with the same serial number as another...)
