• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I recently found some pics I took a few years back while on tour in Japan in '03. These are from the ESP store in Shibuya. Sorry for the lousy pics...that was my first digital camera and not very good. I think you weren't supposed tp take pics either but...

I have no other info on the individual guitars...enjoy I hope!

Cool pics, not a lot of space for them in that showcase...

I would guess none of them.
It is the owner of ESP´s own collection and he has a thing for totally faded bursts with medium flame.
I have been in this store many times and drooled alot and from memory they had thirteen of them in that glass case.
There are two walls of these cases filled with amazing vintage guitars including pre-cbs custom color, matching head strats and alot more.

Will look in my photofolders to see if I have some additional pictures from the store.

Or you could look at it like they are being preserved for future generations, while still able to be seen by the current one. :salude

That would be very nice, but these are no longer musical instruments. These are now no different than buying any other blue chip investment. Japan is a leader in world economics. Few of these will ever again feel the passion of a musican pouring his/her heart and soul into the moment. Only the few that are occasionally brought out for a brief moment at a wine and cheese tuxedo event may get a few chords strummed on them or the lead intro to "Hideaway".

My good Japanese friends have commented on the common "glass show" parties where the few and famous stroll around exhibits of such fine works of art.

A toast to the late 50's Burst...it has evolved from electrified guitar to world famous art piece...and there is really nothing wrong with that!

I have to strongly disagree with both of these statements. :wah

In particular, the first statement that these are no longer musical instruments! :bigal

I understand what he is trying to say, Me thinks the communication is just off.

They are musical instruments, and always will be, however they have been retired as the 'daily driver' workhorse guitar they may have at one point in their life been and now are transformed into an item that is enjoyed for more aesthetic and entrinsic reasons.

Much like a late 19th century Colt firearm, perhaps an early Gutenberg Bible or a 5000 year old clay vessel. These items are kept and enjoyed behind glass for their historical importance, rarity and perceived beauty, not their original uses.
