• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Can anyone tell me if these are Tim Shaw pickups? thanks

I pulled this out of a 60’d VOX Super Meteor that had is square in the middle. Still has original tuners and electronics. Trem is missing spring. Hatchet job of wiring. Pickup was gray tapped to the inside of the pick guard. Ha! Bought it at a pawnshop for $50, 5 or so years ago.

Anyway, I always wanted to see that the pickup was. Today I finally did this hoping it was an old Gibson pickup. We’ll.. I pull the tape back and see stamped on the back of the pickup PAT NO 2737842, look it up and I start reading about T Tops and Tim Shaw. Articles use words like “Holy Grail” for Tim Shaws. White plastic spacer, wood spacer, rough magnate, stamped and not stamped, A2, A5, AO something or other..

So many contradicting comments that confirm exactly the opposite of each other.

Tried to figure it out on my own but I just don’t know what I have here. T Top or Tim Shaw or something in between?

Take a look?

T-top. See the “T” on the bobbin? Shaw won’t have that

I have read all sorts of things, Hybrid Shaws with TT bobbins prior to 1st run. One main thing I have learned is Shaws have white plastic spacers. I have read that it's possible for wood but unlikely. My pickup has wood on one side and the wire on the other. Wish it was, but I don't think it is.

Thanks for the feedback!
