I just acquired a nice 1999 R6. I'm trying to find out what type of case was issued with these.

I have looked at Danelectro's chronology but don't find any specific reference. Thanks for any help! Hank

Oops! I thought you were asking about a 1996 model, not 1999. Could have been a lifton case or a black historic case in 1999.

I was thinking that they started changing over to the "Custom - Art - Historic" black cases around 1998...at least on the R8's from what I've heard.

But I'm not even close to positive about that.

I have a 1997 R7 that came with the tan "USA" case with pink interior.

but also used to have a 2000 R7 that came with the Black CA&H case.

So somewhere in between those years they made the changeover. :salude

I had a '99 R9 with the brown Lifton. I was told that it should have come with both the Lifton and the Black CH case?????

Thanks Wally. It's becoming clear that none of us are absolutely sure. Again, I appreciate the input from all. :)

I am confident that a 99 model came with a Lifton or a black historic case

I can't recall the exact details, but I believe this is how it worked...I believe all '99s came with the Black Custom, Art & Historic case. Then...and it may have only been for some of the '99s, like the Murphy aged 40th Anniversary guitars...once you sent in your warranty form, they would send you a Lifton case. I know that two of my Murphy painted and aged '99s came with both cases, plus copies of the BOTB book.

Frank:

I recall something like that but, obviously, don't remember the year. Thanks

A lot of it was based on which dealer you bought from. I remember one dealer asking me which case I wanted. They were shipping in the black case but the dealers said I could have the brown if I wanted it.

Liners is correct. Came with black case and you filled out a form and got the case and a book I remember.
