I have these speakers from 1972 I think.

The cones do look a different colour (much lighter) than others I've seen.

Are these likely to have been re-coned?

Not necessarily, some of the old speakers do look like that, they've faded over time.
Check behind the contacts and see what white markings are there. '72 was towards the end of the pulsonic era cones('62-'73) and they're highly sought after.

Thanks.

I can't see any white markings. It looks like they are just after the transition from pulsonic cones

Looks like an original pulsonic cone to me. They go pale like that when bleached by the sun, usually when they have lived in cabs without a grill cloth on the front.

In 73 I would expect it to be a '3' or a '1777' stamp. It might be high up on the cone, meaning you might have to remove the speaker to see it properly, or perhaps use a mirror.

The marking is white ink on the back- I had a set of 72's and they are heaven. Too bad they were installed in a monstrous cabinet (which sounded glorious BTW).
Here is a pic of the front of the cones- one of which was a recone.

Thanks for the advice. I will have a further look.

One of the speakers has 3 stamped on the cone. I need to them out of the cabinet and have a look at the other one.

Looking at the T codes on your website, it's got listed T1221 as 15ohm, but mine says 16ohm. It doesn't seem to have T1221-67, so not sure why that be the case

They probably are 15 ohm- the math is just easier when you do 4, 8, 16 etc.
Is it stamped 3 or 03?

T1221-67 is the heritage reissue.

Celestion changed the labelling through the years, so some T1221's are labelled 15 Ohm and some are labelled 16 Ohm, it's the same thing.
