Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
IMO, Blues are extremely articulate and bright speakers. They are well suited for rock-a-billy and oldies. But if you are wanting a classic rock sound of the late 60s and 70s, I would go for the G12M or G12H. They are less articulate and smooth out the amp distortion to a creamier level. Plus, they can be bought for almost a 1/3 the price of a Blue.
A friend of mine had Blues in his Avatar that he special ordered. His tone was great, but it did not match the style that he liked to play (mostly Jimmy Page stuff). After 1-1/2, he finally sold that cabinet and is sticking with 1960AV with V30s.
