• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I recently picked up charvel model 1a. It's an 87 with 3 single coils pickguard. Vintage trem. I have to say totally blown away with the way it plays and sounds. I have played everything but something out of the custom shop from Fender, and owned USA plus and honestly I like it just as much. Was just curious of anyone else's thoughts on the model series. Love the forum.

Over the years, I have owned a , model 3, 4, 5A, 6, 88. They are all fantastic guitars, and sold off for various reasons mainly to upgrade to a higher model.
The one I have hung on to the longest is my Model 88. It's made of Body = African Ribbon Mahogany, maple neck rosewood board. I have a stacked concentric Vol/tone pot in it now and still have the J-95 pickup in it. It is such a fun guitar to play. the Gakki import Charvel's are some of the best import guitars made. I have been thinking of getting another like you have Vtrem, 3 singles. haven't found the right one yet. As great as these imports are they are totally different from the 80's USA made ones form 80-85. I have owned some of those as well and pre production ones as well. Charvel guitars are some of the best made in that time frame.

This is an 86' model # 2 thats was modded for a Floyd from the Kahler fulcrum style. I also put an old 90's EMG-81.
Now it has a newer Schaller Tremeister Floyd
Guitar rocks in every way ive had it about 22 years.
I got my first Japan Charvel in 1988 a 3DR.

I recently got this Satchel Charvel Pro Mod w/ Fishman Fluence Classics, Outstanding guitar.
Fender Mexico is making some seriously good guitars for the money these days.
