I have an RV-2 (IIRC) and am very happy with it. L6´s Verbzilla pedal works well but only in the loop and not in front of the amp. After that, I have yet to find anything I liked. I am certain that the Nova line from TC is great, albeit expensive, but, you get what you pay for.

I use an RV-3. It works, is reliable and I can use it with the Voodoo Lab Power Pedal that I use. There are probably better sounding units out there. I was thinking of getting a better one but I had to rule out a few pedals because of power supply requirements. The T-Rex, TC Electronics and at least one other brand specify 12V supplies.

The Verbzilla works great in the loop. Had a RV-2 before that, but it was a tonesucker.

I've been GASing for a Van Amps Solemate. There is a clip or two on you tube and Van amps. It sounds like a really good spring reverb. I am not too pushed about digital boxes that simulate plate and other types of reverb.

+1 on the Van Amps SoleMate. I go back and forth between the Sole Mate and a really nice sounding RI Fender outboard reverb. They are not exactly equivalent. The larger unit has a deeper, spacier sound. But it is close. The Sole Mate has its own excellent sound, plus the virtues of convenience and noise-free operation. If you're looking for real-deal spring reverb, there isn't anything better out there short of the larger outboard units.

For delay, my first choice is the H&K Replex. A most beautiful, sort of Echoplex (EP-3) type of sound. Digital, but has a tube. Sure doen't sound digital. It's big, heavy, a pain in the butt ... but c'est la vie. On stage, where it counts, the Replex is a total winner.

I just picked up a Tech 21 RVB - admittedly my first outboard reverb of any sort, but I am liking what I hear so far, and like the "boost" feature to prevent drop-out in my FX loop.

I was saving for something else, and this one happened by on a different deal, but so far it's a more capable reverb than I'll ever use.

My humble two - you're probably owed change.

I have an RV-3 on my main board & it works alright. I'm sure there are better out there, but at the time I bought it there weren't many digital reverbs in a small pedal.
You might laugh but I just picked up a Digitech Digiverb for about $50USD. I was messing around at GC, looking at something else completely when I noticed the Digiverb was part of the chain I was plugged into. I liked it enough that I shopped around for a used one & got it on the cheap. It's no $500 spring unit but it sounds pretty warm for what it is.

I had the SoleMate and thought it was excellent. But the Verbzilla is pretty damn close, in fact my opinion is when the Verbzilla is set to '63 Spring, it is right there.

Well whichevr comes first, There is the old (analog) Boss Delay DM-2 and just discontinued a few years back if not more was the Boss RV-3 ( digital but can be set to warm ).

They're not cheap but i think its worth a test drive. Not much into the boutique type just yet. I still prefer the old school type thing.:2cool

Peace!!:dude:

Live I have a Roland RE501 chorus echo. Peachy chorus (only one knob so even I struggle to f#ck that up) Tape echo of very sweet tone and after many years I know exactly how to dial it in. There is a spring based reverb but I use it little or not at all. Reverb is dialed in to suit the room by the sound engineer out front.

It's cumbersome but in 20+ years it's only required a tech intrusion once. Other than that I can keep it maintained myself. Quite happy with it.

The only thing that I can say that maybe negative about the solmate is the spring reverb unit inside is quite sensitive. you can tap the unit quite softly and hear it "spring" through the amp. This means for me at least, that if you crank up the amp with the reverb on that it increases the amount of reverb. However I believe this is the same for fender amps that have built in reverb too.

It just makes it a tad harder to dial in the correct amount of reverb. Because you will have it set nice and a cleanish volume and then you take a solo at 10 and it gets a bit crazier.

I love my analog rev EH Holy Grail, and for short delay the Keeley mod Ibanez AD9 ;-) Would like to try the Maxon AD999 for longer delays.
Best,

1982 Ibanez AD-9, since new. Although, I haven't used it (or anything else) in YEARS!
