This whole thread is so 2021
That's true... Let's let this tread die..This whole thread is so 2021
don't suppose you have any pix of you and your good friend hangin outAlcohol killed my good friend Bon Scott. Now ACDC isn't the same without him!
In the documentary "life in 12 bars"... Also can you tell me where he admitted he was semi racist? I'd like to see the proof of that..
It was quoted in one of the other many recent threads on Clapton, as joyless monomania seems to have taken hold of this pub.Where did he apologise?
Also, he admitted himself he was a “semi-racist”, which to me, is a racist.
That was from the start of 2018. Four years later, it appears that forgiveness is not an option in today's world. The singer said last night that watching the unedited footage, which is included in Lili Zanuck’s new film out next month, left him newly “disgusted” with himself for his “chauvinistic” and “fascistic” comments on stage.
According to the Daily Mail he added: “I sabotaged everything I got involved with.”
He said: “I was so ashamed of who I was, a kind of semi-racist, which didn’t make sense. Half of my friends were black, I dated a black woman, and I championed black music.”
Clapton believes that much of his addiction can be traced to the fact that he was brought up believing his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his sister. When he discovered the truth, his mother rejected him.
The film also covers the 1991 death of his 4-year-old son, Conor, who fell from the 53rd floor of a New York apartment building.
Clapton says the tragedy helped him get sober, and to exist from that point on “to honor the memory of my son.”
He says he needed to apologise, I’ve yet to see any evidence of an actual apology. It was quoted in one of the other many recent threads on Clapton, as joyless monomania seems to have taken hold of this pub.
Note the past tense you employed; here's the full quote:

Apologize to who? Once again, if your that offended by something someone said 45 years ago while drunk onstage, maybe the outside world is not for you.. The truth is, You just want to be a victim. And you want other people to be a victim. You're clearly the type of person who actually likes being offended.... And get off on insisting people apologize... But don't worry, there are plenty of trauma therapist out there that can help you work that out....He says he needed to apologise, I’ve yet to see any evidence of an actual apology.
Self pity and embarrassment yes, apology no.
It's not about being offended. It's about people with shitty "opinions" like racist crap just need to be put in their places. We don't need that shit. Ever. From anybody.Apologize to who? It's clearly not Eric Clapton's opinion as he has stated.. it's a bunch of garbage he said one drunken night 45 years ago. And you wouldn't have that shit if you didn't keep bringing it up... Like I said, you want to keep bringing it up for a reason. You "want" to put someone in their place. It's not about being offended. It's about people with shitty "opinions" like racist crap just need to be put in their places. We don't need that shit. Ever. From anybody.

Amen... I think "ourmaninthenorth" hasSome of the best amends I have given and recieved have had at their core an unreserved ownership of the crassness of behaviour, whether that be badness or madness or both.
Eric pushed the race thing to the front in the documentary and subsequent commentary, he could easily have given it a swerve.
I can't force anyone to accept anything, neither can i baulk at trying to clear up my own mess. This stuff is rarely tied up with a red ribbon. It's complex.
I'm not the person I was 45 years ago, I'm not as stupid. Few of us are.
We evolve.
I think ourmaninthenorth summed it up perfect... Thanks for sharing. Some of the best amends I have given and recieved have had at their core an unreserved ownership of the crassness of behaviour, whether that be badness or madness or both.

I am counting on it!...
We evolve.
He has owned that particular rant and apologized.I believe he should apologise to the people of colour he told to get out of my country.
He’s had 45 years to do it but has never done so to my knowledge, which suggests he believes what he said.
Sorry seems to be the hardest word…
I'm sure if Jack Bruce or Ginger Baker were still alive (and users of the LPF), then they probably would have admitted that Clapton was drunk that night and did not intend for people to think he was racist. In the documentary "life in 12 bars"... Also can you tell me where he admitted he was semi racist? I'd like to see the proof of that..
Please present evidence backing up this statement. He has owned that particular rant and apologized.
In the documentary... However, I'm assuming that was not good enough for you. I'm sure you would like him to go on "the View" and make a public apology... I'm thinking you would have liked him to turn to the camera and say "Dear African Americans and "Hammerhead" from the Les Paul forum, I'm deeply sorry....Please present evidence backing up this statement.
Why would he apologise to African Americans? In the documentary... However, I'm assuming that was not good enough for you. I'm sure you would like him to go on "the View" and make a public apology... I'm thinking you would have liked him to turn to the camera and say "Dear African Americans and "Hammerhead" from the Les Paul forum, I'm deeply sorry....
I'm quite clear on this matter... Apparently you didn't watch the documentary, or hear what he said..Why would he apologise to African Americans?
The fact you don’t even know who he was racist towards says all I need to know.
