• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Yesterday was a very special day, in very many ways. I took delivery of CC#6, SN 21, and boy, is she a beauty. I also had the opportunity of doing an A/B with Mike's #1. My conclusion was that all it takes is 53 years of playing and TLC, and she will sound just like a real 'Burst ;-)

Mike did me the honor (against his initial reluctance) to sign the headstock for me:

Todd, I honestly didn't want to sign the guitar, because I'm simply a "caretaker" of the original Burst and not a famous person who merits having their signature on the guitar. But Werner insisted, so I did it reluctantly.

Like I said in the video, I used a silver Sharpie on top of the finish, so it would probably be pretty easy to eliminate the signature with a little bit of rubbing compound! :)

I am very proud to have won TWO arguments against Mike that day:

1. I insisted he sign the headstock
2. I won the fight over the restaurant check at lunch!

There are days when I think to myself: "life just doesn't get any better than this"...

... and then, someone throws a '58 'Burst in your lap and insists that you play it ;-)

Werner, upon closer inspection, that looks like the '60 Burst in the second photo. :hank

Yep, that's done it. That's tipped my applecart. I sold my 60 burst 22 years ago and as time goes by the more I regret it. Played a CC17 last week at a store here in Melbourne Oz and slowly started to remember the old one. But I'm not a fan of a completely faded out burst and at $12500A this particular instrument was in divorce territory. Found a cc6 for sale interstate at a much more reasonable price. Now I've found this thread and seen how happy you are with it and more importantly I've heard it, I'm gonna go for it ! I've got to move a couple of Strats first but hopefully that wont take long and I'll be making the call.

Hey Maxmc,

I am still trying to keep a list of all CC#6 guitars with serial numbers and pictures. Please share what you can, preferably here on the LPF or privately.
