• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Could anyone identify this Pre-Historic Les Paul from early 80s?

Hi, could anyone identify this Pre-Historic Les Paul from early 80s? It came with the serial no. 9 1009.. seems not like a guitar trader one.

I believe the tuners are for a 60 with 2 rings, instead of 1. But of course, there could be cross over if it were real. Saw the other post about it too which had a lot of good input

Big Al has it correct...again.
Gibson did not make this guitar. It appears to be a home-made project of some sort.
It is certainly not an '80s Gibson. At best, it might be a massively re-worked recent reissue of some sort, but I really, really, doubt it.
Maybe it's the pictures playing tricks but the location of the volume/tone controls seems off and the neck tenon looks unusual.
There is too much wrong with the headstock to list.

Yes, it should be a fake one which modded by a Orville by Gibson Japanese model only based on the non-Kluson tuners, the serial number ... and I believe very little pre-historic model came with long neck tenon.. even the guitar trader one doesn't

It was a auction in Japan and it finally closed at around US$4,400! Poor buyer..
