• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I am thinking about buying a Custom Shop Class Five Les Paul.
This was supposedly a one off, non weight relived custom finish.
I talked with Gibson and it was confirmed, built in 2007.
I am wondering what it would be worth?

I still have a bad taste in my mouth regarding the class 5s. I remember when they first came out, I tried 2 one after the other and both felt cheap and nasty to me. Fit and finish was not anywhere near the price point. Never touched Gibson for literally years after that experience (new.. still happy with second hand from the 1990s onwards.).

That finish doesn't do it for me. One offs appeal to one offs. There is no "market value" just what one is willing to pay.

I like the case. The guitar looks like one of those Joe Perry Tigers with a half assed, half ass dark burst on top. I am not a fan of double dyed tops too artificially pop the grain. Might as well have someone airbrush on some flames. The figue always looks dirty too me, with zero flash and roll.

Some go cookoo bananas over this though and some go all weak and moist for that half burst. I suspect it is a small group that wants both, which accounts for the one off thing. If you are in that group and have to have this then it would be very desirable. One only needs to satisfy oneself.
