• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I own many 13 and 14 R's. Whats the point? You attack me with something I didn't say I believe...

Quote ANYTHING I said which is WRONG about the short tenons on this thread...

I give not a single shit about what you "hear". I said NOTHING incorrect about long versus short tenons. "Reading is fundamental." Yup the question regarding the forum was wrong. I got that wrong. I admit it. But you are "reading" something which ain't there. And unless I am mistaken the Custom was added to the forum name rather recently...

So why the attack after almost a year? Take that long to formulate a snappy retort?

I am waiting for your apology, then I will delete this.

Hello old friend. I was making sport of your preliminary findings. For whatever reason, there was a quick rush to judgement over the CS series here, that was totally unfounded. Your voice seemed the most strident in this regard, of the misinformed herd.

Having picked up a lovely CS9 for something like $250 under dealer cost, I found your findings rather upsetting. In addition, what is said here tends of have impact on various guitar's resale value.

Me, having both an R9 and CS9 for comparison has shed new light on this discussion. I hear no difference, and the guitars feel identical too.

So, not meaning to make a personal attack per se, just meaning to finally set the record straight.

You need to brush up on your reading comprehension. Saying I would not buy one because it is a "50's type guitar" is not saying anyone else should not buy one. When one is offered as a historic versus a "50's style" I will not go for the generic "50's style". And what 'findings' are you talking about? I offered opinion only as to whether I would buy one. Quote me one ONE 'finding' I made in this thread. One. Know what? I'm still not interested in buying one. Glad you like yours. Sorry you are butt hurt I don't have any use for them.

In post #18 I defended them by agreeing with Big Al's statement that they would most likely sound no different. That is also where I said why I would not buy one. - No 'findings'.
In post #20 I told someone where to find some for sale.
- No 'findings'.
post #43 was a dupe so I deleted it.
- No 'findings'.
Post #44 is where I questioned whether a NGD on a CS belonged in this forum (remember why? ).
- No 'findings'.
Post #47 I asked the question above again and stated it was a very informational thread.
- Good 'findings'.
Post #68 is where I stated I would probably always take a historic over a CS. Know what? Still would. Still opinion.
- No 'findings'.
Post #73 is where I stated the way I buy guitars over the internet.
- No 'findings'.
Post #77 is where I took exception to someone saying Gibson had no right charging for changes. Nope. Nothing about a CS there.
- No 'findings'.
Post #100 is where I had to begin schooling your sorry azz on what I didn't say. Found your understanding lacking.

And now in post #102 I have to say. You don't seem to be able to keep up. You don't seem to be able to comprehend what you are typing, much less what someone else is.

No apology yet? I'd still rather delete this, but I ain't gonna let you go unanswered.

Oh, and the next time the 'market' is waiting with baited breath on "whether Ren would buy one" will be the first. But, tell you what. When you go to sell that CS there tell them "Ren gave me a participation award for this guitar."! You can omit the fact you also received a "Whiner Award™©℗". Anybody else? I'm here every morning from 5:30ish until whenever™... Ba Da Boom.

LemonLP59, Why are you here? You seem to have some prickers in your panties. Did you join just to add to the "stupid things" that the "herd" here are saying?

it's either a pathetic attempt at a pump and dump or an even more pathetic attempt to convince himself he didnt get fleeced by Henry G

I'd laugh but as I understand it you're not supposed to blame the victim.

Yeah. After a day like today I hope Big Al hurries up a multi box shipment of WTF's to me. I used all mine up! Oh wait! There's one!

WTF!

P.S. I'm running out of colors too. Bad, bad day.

P.P.S. Is it a full moon? Does garlic keep
maroons away?

Hello again.

Yes indeed, the CS9 is a great guitar. Workmanship might have been better than my R9, btw. As I said, I can't hear a difference between the 2. I've been playing guitar over 4 decades, and have been a Gibson owner since 1968.

So, if there's an expert out there with both guitars, I'd love to hear from such person. People with no access to a CS9 harbor useless information. Just speculation.

PS: I don't mind R8s.

But if you don't own any Gibsons, why are you here? Or are all your Gibsons from the Norlin era, Pre-Henry timeframe?

if you have such a crush on me why not utilize the search feature and put my name in it? it would have answered both of your asinine questions quickly and easily.

... I mean that's just lazy.

look I genuinely feel bad for you that your subconscious is ahead of the rest of your thinking in terms of accepting the truth of the situation, but that really doesn't give you the right to attack a person who has added more to the discourse in this single thread than you have made - and I can say that it is more than apparent - than you have made in your entire life.

also I just want to point out for the record you are literally a grown *** man asking for a safe space for your guitar purchase. if that aint something, I dont know what is.

Lame dude, really.

R9 and CS9, I don't hear or feel a difference, sorry.

It seems an actual datapoint is upsetting to "the market".

Let me be clear once again, in as objective a way I can. I own both a '13 R9 and a '15 CS9. I hear or feel no difference between the two.

Do you find that upsetting in any way, shape or form?

I think we may have something in your size which ties in the back... If you want my job you have to try harder.

Judging by the other thread he may have put nitrocellulose on his nuts. Be careful...

You mean your old uniform?

I'm glad you were able to find employment, given the ostensible.

I must say, it is a great feeling to own Custom Shop Les Pauls. The 1959 neck profile just really can't be had on a USA Gibson.

Happy Sunday mate! And best wishes to all Custom Shop Les Paul owners.

I once had a no-name Les Paul style guitar that I handwound some pickup bobbins on a drill press then assembled from dead pickup spare parts and installed. The top was a veneer, the finish was thick as putty, and the back was a multi-piece laminate. After a fret dress and new nut it played and sounded incredible, as good as any "premium" guitar. I had all of $300 into it.

You are paying a premium for the "Historic" guitars not only for the sound but for the build accuracy. A "long" neck tenon is vintage accurate.

True, a guy looking for a great sounding, playing, and looking Les Paul can find a deal on the CS "short" tenon guitars.

Buy whatever makes you happy for whatever reasoning. Live and let live.

Not much more to say about it really.

Hi everyone, I take this dated post to have my say about the CS set. After reading all the posts, I am convinced of one thing: there is a lot of confusion. Gibson Custom Shop differs from the standard production in various aspects such as: selected woods, mostly one-piece body (which by the way I also have on my 95 LP Classic Premium Plus), dedicated pickups, accurate necks, like glues and all the rest. . Basically this is the Custom Shop. The historic or true historic series is a model that wants to reflect historical characteristics such as the vaunted long tenon, while the CS series does NOT want to be a Historic, but a Custom Shop LP with characteristics of 57,58,59 (as neck, paf , used glues, painting, etc.) and with the new short tenon (expanded dovetail) to combine the old with the new. In summary I have one, a CS7, after having tried as always the guitars I buy, and I affirm with absolute certainty (shared with anyone who has tried it) that it is the best Les Paul I have ever played. This is Custom Shop, not historic, and frankly I don't know what interest a long tenon could arouse, which I also find on epiphone if desired. My two cents
