For restoration purposes, I certainly see value in rewound PAF's. I'd say they're simply worth what the buyer is willing to pay. Just my 2 cents.

...and for the record, I have no PAF's for sale. :rofl

re: post #25.... I politely submit that's not even moderately funny.

Dude, lighten up and stop being so serious. I am obviously joking....and it was Tom W that inferred the original joke...I just used it again.

My wife considers my expenditure on guitars bloody excessive. I guess my total gear including amps and pedals could be bought and sold for no more that 20k. I love to snap up a 50s Jr or a es295 but it would not be worth the misery.

I'm with lpnv59 on this (as I usually am in fact..) I'd far rather have a rewound but otherwise stock PAF than any boutique repro, as I've had countless hallelujah ultra mega perfect mega clone PAFs, and my originals and rewinds are always far superior. I'll always buy dead or rewound PAFs over expensive boutique modern stuff, which easily run to $500-600 anyway. The PAF replica arms race is based on whom is able to more exactly reproduce every last nuance and detail of build, components and composition so to disregard a genuine PAF which is undeniably authentic in all these respects is absurd really

I routinely watch PAFs on eBay over the last few years, and I can tell you what I have observed. HRMT's price observations are completely in line, in terms of non-rewound. DBs sell routinely in the 5k region, and get snapped up quickly at 4k. I sold a pair of clean DBs for $5k a year ago.

However, I think that rewinds are going for less than half.

And, unless Jon Gundry rewound the PAF, I'm not interested, FWIW.
