• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

You're not nitpicking. If it was me, I'd absolutely make a stink about it, up to and including asking for a replacement guitar. Your spend that kind of money to get a guitar you can LOVE. This issue needs to be fixed.

I agree it should be fixed but no reason to ditch the whole guitar.

The pickguard can probably be fixed with a custom-made guard. The string alignment seems like a much more serious issue. How is that corrected on a set-neck guitar?

I have CS guitars not drilled Last thing I would do .
Also I never knew that one had an option until 1993 when I bought my first figured top Les Paul . A Les Paul Premium Plus Top , which I ordered and the Manager at the ole mom and pop asked me if I wanted the guard on or off . I replied and asked that if I really had a choice and if they came that way , and I was told that because I was ordering I could have it not drilled for . I have been spoiled ever since , and I prefer seeing the beautiful figured maple top instead of stupid plastic .

Just in case anyone was wondering. Received my pauly back 45 days after mailing it to Gibson RnR. 45 days… nothing was addressed. They just bolted on another Ill fitting guard and sent it back to me. Nobody called or emailed that it was even back in the mail! Nobody called or emailed to go over what was to be done if it was outside a warranty issue. I would have paid. I think they set it up but it also came back with more scratches then it left with so I’m done mailing it. I fixed the guard issue and will fill the existing hole at some point. Don’t really care since it’s under the guard. Photo 1 is right after I received it and then after I fixed it in all of 1 min. I’m not even mad just more perplexed as to what kind of tech bolts that on and thinks , yep that looks good to me… string alignment stuff I’ll have a local shop fix. Is what it is… now it’s relicd hahaha..
