• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Damn you!

So my friend makes guitar, and he just bought some Throbaks SLE101's. He is not terribly prone to superlatives- well- at least not ones I seem to disagree with anyway. Our friendship started by comparing gear- I had a 1963 Deluxe Brown, and he had a 62 and we wanted to see, blah, blah blah. I also had a HM Deluxe '14, and he had built a very nice LP from a good kit and we wanted to see.
OK- back to our story- so he's got these PUP's- and having spent time with a few bursts, my favorite HB pair was a Gil Yaron set in a GY LP. Percussive- swirly middle position- the neck was a bigger bridge tone- not a muddy, boomy thing. Really something. When plugged in my friend and I simultaneously looked at each other, really in shock. They were that cool.
So now he has these Throbaks- and they are better than the Yarons.
I haven't had anything to obsess about in a while. Ok- there's that.
Man... we need a gear library.

I have been singing the praises since 2018 to anyone that would listen about the Sonic Virtues of all things THROBAK . My favorite pickups and accessories and Let Me Tell You ThroBak takes such great care of me it's just so awesome ! ThroBak makes me the SLE-101 plus pickups with A5 magnets and I have them in all 10 of my Gibson Les Paul's , that's how much I love these pickups ! Best Pickups and the BEST SERVICE PERIOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've played a GY with his pickups too, after playing it for the first time with different pickups.

I was a little underwhelmed with the guitar on first play to be honest, maybe I just wasn't in the mood that particular day.

Playing it for the second time, I was. The penny dropped.

Sensational instrument.

Neck pickup with a mind of it's own...fantastic.
