Keep your eye out, just got this email:

Hey there sweet family,

Some very unpeachy news to share this evening:

Derek Trucks Band Equipment Stolen....
Emergency - Please Help
The Derek Trucks Band's equipment trailer was
stolen last night in Atlanta. I need to purchase
the following equipment ASAP. Anyone who is
willing to sell any of this gear, please call me
at 303-778-1156.

1) Two blackface Super Reverbs, 1965 preferred,
1964 through 1967 acceptable. Must have
original transformers; everything else will be
tweaked by me to Derek's spec. Speakers
not important - keep 'em if you like. As long
as the cabinet and baffle board aren't busted,
I don't give a **** what it looks like.

2) One 1974 or earlier Ampeg SVT head. Must
have original trannies. Looks not important
Not looking for the oldest production with the
6146B output tubes, please.

Posters in the Atlanta area, please be on the lookout for the stolen gear. A
list of serial numbers will be posted as soon as I receive it.

As of 14:36 Denver local 05/18/06, this information is ten minutes old. I have it from DT's FOH guy (Marty Wall), who is pulling a U-haul filled with the goodies towards Atlanta right now, that the following items were found in a field with piles of construction debris located outside Atlanta: DT's 1965 BFSR, the amp he's been playing since he was a little kid; Derek's 1968 SFSR (one of the backup amps),the DTB's Hammond B-3, two Leslies, a Hohner E-7 Clavinet, and a few other minor items. The BFSR just happened to be in a box with a FedEx label addressed to DT's manager on it - from the last time I worked on it and shipped it back. The gear has been rained on somewhat, but the '65 BFSR didn't get wet at all as far as Marty can tell. It'll be flying out to Denver for a complete checkup, and should get back to Atlanta by the time DT gets back from the Clapton tour. Not recovered: the bass rig (1973 SVT and two Ampeg cabinets), the keyboard amp, the Midas console, the mikes, cabling, Kofi's flute, his Yamaha Motif 88, etc. However - it's a good start.

Let me take this opportunity to thank the (literally!) thousand-plus people who e-mailed and called me with offers of replacement gear and loaners when the theft went down back in March. (In fact, the original post is still circulating, and I'm still getting 10-15 calls
a week with gear offers. Nothing like the initial avalanche, though - I fielded nearly two hundred phone calls the first day - talked myself hoarse!)

All I can say is, DT must have some special good karma. He's a helluva fine dude, and he deserved to get his favorite amp back.

Wow thats some good news and some stupid logic! Steal someones gear then leave it at a construction site to get ruined. I guess that is the power of the internet. The thieves must have seen the numerous posts on the different sites and considered it too risky to unload. What a an IDIOT(S)!

Rockin' Good News! Derek Trucks sounds fantastic through that amp. Hope to see (and hear) it on stage this summer at the ABB show.

I've got tix to the ABB/Petty double header.
Will Derek be on board or still out with Clapton?

That is great news. What a bunch of losers to take that stuff in the first place. People have no idea how much our gear means to us....... Money can't replace the memories.
