Didn't like the 50'S wiring

I put a RS kit in my '02 Standard a few months back and just followed the diagram that came with the kit. It sounded much better but seemed a little dark sounding. I recently tried the 50's wiring scheme and found it to be way too bright for my taste. I tried adjusting the pick up and pole piece heights but I just couldn't tame the extra bite. I had installed the bright cap so I clipped that out but no dice. I went back to standard wiring.

Is there a consensus on the tonal difference between the RS wiring and standard 50's wiring?

A tried it through both my Marshall 1959SLP-RI & Sound City L120 through a Sound City 412 bottom. Then I tried it through a SF Vibro Champ. And lastly a Digitech Valve FX & MosValve through the 412. It was sharp and biting through all. Obviously I could adjust the EQ of the rack stuff to deal with it but that's just my practice rig. Don't get me wrong, the kit was an improvement. I just like the standard wiring better than the 50's wiring on this guitar so I changed it back. The BBV's were a little grainy and fuzzy sounding before I installed the kit. My experience was that the 50's wiring is brighter sounding than the standard wiring. BTW, anybody that says you can't hear the difference between the two should get their ears checked.

You tried it, you didn’t like it, so you put it back. Founding out for your self is a great way to learn. Everyone’s hands and ears are different. The 50’s ideal is not for everyone. Gibson had their reasons for changing the pot values and wiring. A lot of the changes are not necessarily better, just different.
