• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I will post any and all 1993-1995 R0 pictures I ever come across in the future. I want to thank oceantoad and surfweasel for this fun and sometimes frustrating experience! I want all to know, they are gentlemen and men of honor, as I was paid $50 from each of them. I am going to share half of the money with the owner and supplier of the posted pictures. I am VERY thankful to him to have actually bought one of the two 1995 R0s I remember seeing on Ebay in the last two years. The most recent was last summer.

Thanks again, I hope this thread stays alive with pictures of OTHER R0s before 1996. Also any pictures of ANY 1993 Historics, especially the 9 0001-9 0012, and the 7 0001-7 000? The first Historics prototypes did NOT have a 3 as the second digit. But there were 9 3001 and 7 3001, as I understand, when regular production started on the Historics.

And finally the 95 R0 compared to a 03 R9. Comparing the serial number fonts on the headstock:

This horse has been whipped, to a lathered frenzy, fell over and died, and whipped some more .

Okay, so the latest stats are as follows:

1994 - 1 R0 known (see kink's info from Gibson Forum). Manf Dec 94.

1995 - 17 R0's known (see kink's info from Gibson Forum) Not more than 20 made, as there is no 5021).

1996 - 30 R0's known (#0 6030 is at Historic Les Paul Database). Owner does not know date of manf - I asked.

1997 - 149 R0's known (#0 7149 is mine, manf Dec 1997).

That's the sum of what is known SO FAR.
If anyone sees/finds/knows of higher serial #'s for any of these years, tell us!!

Here's an example of a tag with the model designation filled in by hand with red pen. (This is a '94 R9)

I have 9 3133 -- not the earliest 93 R9 by any stretch of the imagination, but she is my number one. It is tons of fun to play and has a beautifully woody, throaty tone.

Thanks, Guitarvoodoo! I love it as well. I know some people are not down with the medulliary grain.... umm BBQ. But to each's own. :salude

Unfortunately, this did not have any case candy or paperwork when I bought it. I got it second hand and I believe everyone was scared off because they thought it was a mismarked 2003. Once I saw the historic collection decal on the back I knew what I was getting and have not looked back ever since

Yes, I recall that Les Paul, and yes there are even 1991 1960 RIs! But the controversy here has been Historic R0s with the long tenon. And we have established there was ONE 1994 R0 and a couple dozen 1995 R0s. (so far no documented 1993 R0s)

I have a '93 R9 Historic. I recently replaced the '57 pickups with an original PAF 8.4 ohms in the bridge position and a Pat. No. 7.8 ohms in the neck position, bumblebees, etc. No picture at present but I'll try to get one for you if you're still looking.

I got so goofy looking at the beautiful photos and forgot it was R0's you were looking for, not R9's. Sorry. But since I went to the trouble of shooting a few pictures of 9 3036 I might as well post 'em. I wish I had the photographic talent of the other posters.
