Epiphone Alnico Pro swap with coil split reverse function???

Hello; I replaced my pickups with an Epiphone split coil system. I went from the ProBuckers (Standard 50’s) to the Alnico Pro‘s. I purchased the 4 wire system from an Ebay’er who took out of a newer Epiphone.

When I did the solderless swap (Except ground) i found that when I Pull on the volume knobs that the sound is 100% better, but when they’re pushed in, the Sound is very scarce. I have used split coil Systems in the past with other guitars and usually it is the reverse. I double checked the connectors to see if they were inserted backwards, and double checked the wiring, and it is all correct according to the Epiphone specs. But I’m just puzzled as to why the operation Is in reverse. Could I have received a bad wiring harness? Or a bad pickup set? I can get used to the function, as long as I know it is correct. Thanks so much for your expertise in advance!

Respectfully

Will

I've found that Epi stuff can be hit and miss, I suggest removing all components from the harrness and wiring it together yourself

I will definitely look into that. And, I think there is a problem with the Neck pickup. It is at 7.8 Ohms and the bridge is at 13.4 ohms. I think it is time to look at returning the Setup. I think that there are more issues involved than I’d like to Frankenstein together. :(

Those resistance readings are not out of line with what I had originally in my 2010 Epi Joe Pass Emperor II….not sure what type of pickups they came with then though.

It was a bad pickup. When I touched the wire to the pickup it cut in/out. The connection with the moles connector was strong. There’s a broken wire near the pickup. I’ve got another set I’m putting in and call it done. Thanks for all your help!
