• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I may be putting together an Esquire and seek advise on an pickup. Something not overly bright would be my preference.

Also what do they call the part that holds the e & b stings on a Fender head stock?

Thanks

With only one pup, find an old Champ Lap Steel and do the needed mods to make it sing! MHO

I am in a position to offer advice on this one!
I just got a set of Tele V's from Curtis Novak after just having played Revwillevk's '56 three weeks ago. He also had a tele copy with Don Mare's in them- these cannot be had for less than the price of a nice guitar! I had played a set of the Novaks a couple years ago- than you Banker and Benji Shanks. Playing the Esq reminded me of the authority i heard with the Novaks.
Anyway I got them in one week and installed them- no problems and they were just like I remembered. They sound great clean or dirty- but I haven't tried any open tunings yet nor slide.

My 2 cents would be ThroBak as they make a really nice set of Broadcaster Pickups , which are A5 Magnets and the reading is 9.9 for the bridge ( yummy) and the best part for you is you can buy the bridge pickup only or a set with the neck . www.throbak.com -https://www.throbak.com/store/p93/ThroBak-Broadcaster-A5-Telecaster-Pickups.html

I have a SD Jerry Donahue in mine. Anything with a baseplate will usually do. Esquires aren't about pickups, they're all about the amp. If your amp isn't up for an Esquire, don't bother. First you need to get bodacious Tele tones - THEN build the Esquire.

My Nash came with a Lollar, either Vintage or '52 T, can't remember. But always thought it was a really great sounding pup.
