I bet you love Vlad Putin's Russia. You have a lot in common with him.
Like the last president, an admirer of Putin and his xenophobic, homophobic state.
xenophobia, paranonoid conspiracy theory nonsense.
The whole world is against poor Doc and his kind.
Sad.
You need help.
Hey troll-boy!

Move back under your bridge...

The grown-ups were having a discussion here.

That may be true now, but We had a LOT of relatives up there who did the opposite in the 80's.

They had such extended wait times for procedures a few of them came down to the U.S. for everything medical.

Maybe they have it fixed now.

I have no more family up there to check with, they are all dead (but I am NOT saying it because of that).
When I was touring I would always ask the locals in different countries about their healthcare. Being a musician with no health insurance the idea intrigued me. Not once did I encounter a person who would prefer our health insurance model over their system.

I know we pay way too much.

I also know the insurance industry feeds off of us.

But I also know the gubmint always manages to make things worse...

I ain't seeing a way out of this.

Americans pay more for medical care and prescriptions than any other country. Like I stated above, I have yet to hear a person in a country with universal health care tell me they would prefer ours. That says a lot.

Actually, that is not true. The only way Canadians would come to the US is for a treatment that wasn't covered. But virtually everything is.

No Canadians I've every asked are aware of anyone that goes across the border and pays $ for medical services. If any do it sure doesn't happen at the level that suggests their system is broken.

They also state there are no extended wait times.

Here's an interesting perspective to consider.

That IS true as it was people I KNEW PERSONALLY (wife's side of the FAMILY) who had to do it BECAUSE of extended wait times on heart problems.

PERIOD.

Now, this WAS back a number of years and as I conceded they may have fixed that by now.

So don't say that is 'not true' as you are labelling me falsely...

And my wife just reminded me of a cousin who lost and eye because they couldn't take care of a detached retina fast enough...

It wasn't all sunshine and lollipops.

Sorry if you misinterpreted my post. I did not mean your personal experience statement was not true. I obviously have no knowledge of that or the extenuating circumstances that led to those actions.

My comment was that your example is not indicative of their system now or in the past. The article I posted provides some background on preconceived perceptions and where and how they developed.

Here's a summary on how their system works.

Here is another interesting article on prescription drug availability and access.

But, you are right. It's not all sunshine and lollipops at all.

Canadian here: Our health care is not great. I am 58 and have no family doctor. I endure long waits in the hope of seeing a doctor at a walk in clinic. The wait for elective surgery (knees, hips etc.) can be years. The only plus is it costs me nothing when I see a doctor or if I need surgery. I would be more than willing to pay a deductible or small fee to be able to get timely health care. But that is not legal. Funny, it works fine for my dental care.

Englishman.

The NHS has recently saved my Wife's life.

I thank every single one of them.

That's all I have to say.
