I'm so glad this thread started because yesterday I invested in 3 metric tonnes of hide glue, which is now stored in my garage. I'm heating one drum as I type this, and tomorrow will buy a new neck, which I will dip into the glue until I get the desired tone, or the frets disappear, whichever comes first. I've managed to dip 3 sets of pickups so far, but they're kind of stuck together in a lump at the moment. I probably should have separated them first, but I'm sure they'll have that amazing hide glue tone, once I figure out how to get them apart. One set has so much glue on it, it looks like a football. I bet that'll be the best sounding set.
You did it WRONG! The motto is:
Always DRIP, never DIP!
Hide Glue = Tone
Extra Hide Glue = Ultra Mega Tone!!! :dude:
