• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

In 1959 Music Stores complained that LPs faded before their eyes sitting in the window. My hunch is a V1 Deep Cherry is an extra coat of paint or perhaps they added more red as a first attempt to correct the problem (at the time). Tomato Soup was a new formula. Is a tangerine burst a slightly faded Tomato Soup? I also know that extra coats of red were added on tops to cover Maple flecks on the edges (that were thought to be unsightly but I like them). The extra coats would change the fading pattern. Dark Bursts had too much blue pigment in the mix. Green Burst had some green pigment? Some fading trends were also climate related I know as well.

Does anyone know the facts?
