Faulty tone pot for neck pick-up in GLP Standard HP 2017

The tone pot for the neck pick-up has become unusable. Going down from max to min, it makes cracking sounds about half way, and from that point onwards tone maxes out again and does not change any more. It seems the pot is corroded or short-circuited at that point. Spraying electronic cleansing fluid was of no help. The pot needs to be replaced, but I was told by a local guitar repair person that it is embedded in a circuit and the whole electronics would need to be replaced.

This is terrible. I bought the guitar brand new in 2017 in New York. Now living in Beijing, can't take back there. Has anyone experienced this and /or has any ideas how to solve this? Can one buy replacement electronics for this model? May be ditch the whole push/pull and deep switch HP thing and install a simple set up? I need to be able to use the tone control!

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts and suggestions.

Greetings , I am sorry to hear of your troubles as this would be most upsetting to me as well . Now if you know a good reliable Guitar Tech/luthier to help you out that would be the first step . Second , I would remove the entire harness in the control cavity and replace with a wiring harness with 500K pots and caps and have it wired in the Vintage 50's style , such as this https://www.throbak.com/wiring-harnesses.html No more push pull pots but a more straight forward volume and tone control set up and it will work great . Please report back as I am most interested in how you make out please . Best Wishes !

If the pot is on PC board, chances are that some solder joints are cracked. Reflowing the solder joints by a reasonably competent tech could repair your guitar.

Also if the pot does need replacing it should be perfectly feasible for any competent electronics engineer to remove and replace a pot on the circuit board. To suggest that the whole board needs replacing is ridiculous.
