• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Feels good to come back to vintage Marshall tone - 71 50w!

I've done this post a few times before for different vintage amps. I'm way into amps and have a few of each - vintage a boutique. I'm really into the boutique thing. There's A LOT of stellar builders out there today making AMAZING amps that hang with the best of vintage. And, a lot are a new twist on an old theme. That said - my real bread and butter tones come from old Marshalls and Fender Bassman heads. That's where it began.

Tonight is the 71 50w Marshall with my 80 LP Custom (silverburst). It just feels and sounds good. Not better or worse than anything else - but, like coming back home or to that old favorite t-shirt. Can't beat an old Marshall NVM (on 8 for me)!!!

Fun stuff - changing it up!

Sick Boy; Those early 70s heads are great! I usually prefer my '72 50w Bass head (for guitar) over my '68 or '69 50w plexi.

Unfortuately, I do not. I have a recording setup but, don't spend a lot of time with it. Probably because I find it a little cumbersome to use (digital 8 track). If anyone has any suggestions for a down and dirty simple setup, I'd be interested in it. I've already got the mic covered (SM57).
