:wowDamn, why did you have to post that. I am in the process of saving up for my first Gibson and am deadset on a '54 LP but its pics like these of those sexy firebirds that make me reconsider my choise.

Honestly that is a sweet guitar. What are you playing it through? Post some sounds clips of it when you get a chance.

Yeah, it's a very cool axe. I don't have the equipment to record it at the moment but I'm hoping to record a demo with my band sometime during january and If I do that I could post some stuff here. Oh, I'm playing it through a Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555. I use a MXR Micro-Amp from the 70's to boost the signal on the clean channel. It's great cause I can get more of a vintage sound that way.

Dude, great pics!!! Everytime I see a firebird I think of a naked girl with a huge rack. Is that wrong?

Doug, Is there anything that doesn't make you think of a naked girl with a huge rack?!

Hey Johan,
nice axe!

I notice you're a Hellacopters fan, as am I.
Are you into Sweden's other great gift to the world, The Soundtrack of Our Lives?

Yeah, I'm a big Hellacopters fan. Haven't listened to Soundtrack much though. Maybe I should take some time to check 'em out.

Yeah, got my first gibson a couple of weeks ago and it's awsome. Had a intonation problem with it but it's fixed and now I love it. Put .9's on it for the first time (been playing .10s forever) and now it plays great. Here's the pics, it's a '90:

Decisions, decisions

How much for the firebird? I want one! Do you have tuning problems with it? Is it your only guitar? Did you try a non- reverse FB?

UfoPilot: Wow, that's a sweet axe. That's a FB 3 right? Looks awsome!

Art: I think I gave around $1200 for it used. Which is a pretty good price around here. Didn't try a non-reverse FB cause they were just out of my price-range. I had a intontation problem which I partially got corrected but I think I'll let some pro-tech have a look at it.

Birdy: Nice bird in your profile! Got any more pics ;) :)

here's mine...

It's a great guitar, looks the part, sounds great, but I just can't get used to the way the neck feels very long and the playing position of the right hand is too far over towards the neck.

I'm p/exing it with a '67 SG jr with lyre vibrola tomorrow. Sure will miss the FB, but I get on with SGs much better. :rip

Pix of my new SG...

Yup, it's a beauty!!! The thing with this guitar is it 'looks' better than it will ever play in my hands, the design just doesn't work for me (same with Explorers and Vees to a certain extent)

Also, while we're on the subject... I've found early 90s Gibson to be great guitars. This Firebird is a '90, my LP is a '91 and I've tried others from the same period that just ROCK!!! Anyone else think this or will all the 90s era Gibsons be left for me to snag? ;)

I'm with you. I lusted after one for years (thanks to Phil Manzanera). Eventually got a '91 FB V and found it hard to play for the exact same things you say. Still love that look, but it's the solid-colour FBs that really get me going. Here's a Japanese dealer Web site with three drop-dead gorgeous '60s FBs up for sale:

* Cardinal Red http://www.roughtime.co.jp/Gtr/G0040.htm :wow
* White http://www.roughtime.co.jp/Gtr/G0002.htm :wow
* Kerry Green http://www.roughtime.co.jp/Gtr/G0001.htm :wow

If they'd been red, white and blue I'd have had to sell a kidney and cough up for the lot. ;)
