• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

First time poster, my dream R9!

Hi fellow LPF members, new to these parts...after owning a great plaintop R8 for 13 years I broke down and bought something flamey. Ideally, I'd prefer a lemonburst but this guitar was local, I could try it out first, and its incredible. Haven't got a weight on it, but its significantly lighter than my '08 R8. This '18 R9 resonates and sustains incredibly, has almost Tele levels of snap and clarity all while still sounding like a good Paul. Love the Custombuckers, so much in fact that I may swap out the BB1/BB2 set in my R8 for some. Anyways, here's some pics because you know....

Congrats. Maybe consider selling the R8 instead for one newer. 2013 is when they removed the truss rod sheath. I think that made a noticble difference in sound and could be why your two sound so different. Just a suggestion.

That is an awesome looking Les Paul. That color is beautimous and so much better, imo, than the pale albino citrus washed out look. I like the snappy Custombuckers too and find them perfect for my needs. But what a pretty, pretty, pretty Les Paul.

You'll need to hunt around for another set of Custombuckers......they're not available aftermarket from Gibson.............I love'em too!!

I think that's a huge part of it too! I live 20 minutes from Kim LaFleur and the boys at Historic Makovers, I might give him a call and see if he can get the most out of that guitar.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing!

Lovely top - nice figuring on that board too, cool to hear it plays and sounds as good as it looks!
