I had a Gibson Warren Haynes ES335 limited edition #119/500 land in my hands to re-finish a not so pretty repair and paint finish. I received the guitar after the head-stock break had been effectively doweled and re-glued. It had also been stripped so all I had to do is match the colors of the red on the wood and the yellow of the binding then do the re-fin. The problem is, who ever did the first repair and re-fin used some kind of crazy epoxy that could not be fully removed so the decision was made to give the guitar a stinger. To complicate matters the back edges of the head-stock had been rounded over during the removal of some of the crappy epoxy so I had to do the best I could to make the stinger look clean and it turned out pretty nice. I do not have any before pictures but here it is after I received it and during the process. I pulled tape on it yesterday so this has not been wet sanded and rubbed out but I'm pretty happy with it. The only unfortunate thing is the hand written 119/500 mark from the factory on the back of the head-stock was lost during the first re-fin but it still has it on the label inside the guitar.
