• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

so does anyone have a clue about them? I know that they were a limited edition, they have v shaped pups, the tuners have a little piece that lifts up to help winding stings, and i believe that there are a few other neat limited things about them but hopefully you guys can give me a little history on them

Late 70s more or less, laminated walnut/maple bodies that varied (that is sometimes maple/walnut), sometimes had other finishes like a metallic red, ebony boards, flat wide frets. "Boomerang" pickups sounded more thin and Fenderish than usual Gibson humbuckers. IIRC each side of the boomerang shape was a separate coil. The related model of the V2 was the Explorer 2 which did have humbuckers. Similar woods and hardware. Later models of the V2 did have humbuckers and gradually the models morphed into the "The V" and "The Explorer" early 80s guitars with the maple tops and Dirty Fingers humbuckers. Standard IIRC disclaimer.

Very resonant and not really heavy. Impossible to play sitting down since the cord is plugged in on the inside of the V.

No total production numbers although I have seen an article by Larry Meiners which gives a production number for the first year, 1979.
