Anyone know what this thing is worth?

Some young kid has it. It's in excellent all original condition. Down to the original footswitch for the tremolo and the original Jensen 12-inch speaker. In tact, working fine, sounds great.

He is asking $300 for it.

Should I grab it?

I've had two of these. Nice for mild OD, and blues. Without significant mods it will always be a little light on the bass response due to the Jensen's wimpy alnico speaker. The tone on these can be all over the map. It's possible that you have one of the good ones. The last one I got was a dog, and it's been totally torn apart awaiting a decision on what to do with it.

I have ideas...mwuhahahahaha!:lol2

You might want to pass on that one and get a GA-8 instead. I have one that's mother of all GA-8s, affectionately called 'Lil Marshall!:dude

Turbozag... if it's in mint condition, probably somewhere between $200 - $350. Again, this is subjective to what you like for tone. I'm a raw rock n' blues type of guy, so this specific model is a little too mellow for me. The trem circuit is kinda cool, but it's not a gain monster, like say a GA-8.

If you're looking for the early Zep tone, a GA 8 is a good start.

Don, I'm really starting to get annoyed with you having 'Lil Marshall! Bastid! :lol2

Isn't the GA-8T the same amp as the GA-8 only with the added feature of the tremolo?

By the way, does anybody have a good photo of one of these?
I saw a photo on another previous thread, and that amp does not look like the one I am looking at.

The amp I'm talking about has the controls on the front panel, not on top of the amp. It has two input jacks on front, along with a footswitch jack, and a "echo speaker" jack.

I don't think they are the same circuits. lpmaniac knows this in detail.

PT, you have good stuff...

Tubozag... the GA-8 design is a single ended Class A, dual 6v6 in parallel circuit design. The GA-8T is a push/pull designed amp, very different in design and tonal characteristics.

If you want to know more, email me and we'll keep this off the LPF bandwidth, OK?
