• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I found an old Tube Screamer in a case today. It looks to be from about 1982. Does anyone know if this is an expensive one? I see TS-10s going for crazy money (I need to sell mine) any love for the 9?

IIRC I replaced this one with a Macon 808 maybe 20 years ago.

Thanks!

...you sell on the internet and don’t know or know how to find this ?…always look at completed auctions on eBay or the sold on Reverb

Here is mine. I can't believe what these are going for. It's not like my Klons, but still. I think I paid probably $35.

Yeah it's crazy! I listed this one so maybe I'll get lucky. I replaced this one with the Maxon OD-808 maybe 20 years ago. It's a little cleaner sounding.

Yeah and for the Klon you could buy a nice used car!
Said it before, I''ll say it again - I'm kicking myself that I was young and dumb and didn't get what Klons really were and did when I had the opportunity to buy one or 2 at $239 direct from Bill F. Not just for the sales value now, but also for what it does...

I'm surprised he was selling them for that much. That's what we used to sell them for at the store in 95. I think there were only two stores that sold them, but I could be wrong.
I have gold and silver. I traded my second silver for two 1960s Mosrite Ventures Models to a concert promoter in Japan, red and ink blue. At the time I think I had only ever seen one or two Mosrite Mark Vs in myu life (probably one) and was just blown away being in an office full of them. This guy even had a Mosrite amp that was one of the first Dumbles. It had belonged to Nokie Edwards or Bob Bogle, can't remember. His office could have been a Mosrite museum. For someone who learned to play listening to Play Guitar With The Ventures and who flew across the country to see the band play on the anniversary of the recording of Walk Don't Run (the Fenix in Seattle, Don Wilson's mother was there!) it was an amazing experience! Bob Bogle and Nokie Edwards switched off on bass, Don Wilson played rhythm and Leon Taylor (Mel Taylor's son) played drums.

I still say Edwards/Bogle are one of the top two or three most influential rock guitar combos. Had Nokie Edwards been British he would have gotten a lot more recognition. OTOH, The Ventures outsold The Beatles in Japan IIRC, so I guess he did ok!

Anyway, I still have the Mosrite guitars, so I'm happy. Not sure who got the best end of that trade. I should have traded for the amp instead! This would have been in about 04/05.

This would have been around 2000 - 01 that I had the chance. A guy I worked with at the time had one, and basically the offer was out to get ones if we wanted. He lent me his so I could check it out. I plugged it in for a few minutes, twisted the knobs and when I didn't immediately get the high-gain sound I liked at the time, i gave up. Even then i should have known to play around with the amp settings and pedal, plus the other pedals I had - but what's done is done.

The TS-9 was released in 1982 to replace the TS-808. The reissue was released in the mid 90's. The early TS9s had the JRC 4558D chip. The reissues had the Toshiba TA75558. Check reverb or eBay or wherever to get comps.

The high dollars are only payed for pristine ones. Most i have seen are scuffed and dented and sell for a lot less.

They used a variety of chips including the TA75558 in early/mid 80's.
