• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Great SGs, Mike. How's the intonation on that red Special? That bridge looks like they overdid the slant a bit too much.

Great guitars AND amps. Also great memories for me. In '62 my Dad's rig consisted of his new '61 Standard, a tweed 4x10 Bassman, and an external Fender reverb unit. This pic is my younger brother and me saying bye to our Dad before he left for a gig. The Standard is in the case behind me and I have my hand on the Bassman. I will forever be in the market for an original '61 until I either find one or die.

Beauties all Mike!

My favorite? The '62 Custom. I know Les hated 'em, but that's the SG for me!

That White Special is my dream SG right there.......I think? By that I mean, in '62 were the necks on Specials a little rounder/fuller than in '61? Or was that not until 63 or 64. That said; I'd still take it )

Awesome collection! Vintage SGs are so underrated. Mike, you seriously should do a hi res digital book or just your guitars. Or maybe a thread here on this forum. I mean you could literally launch the best stocked guitar museum on the planet. From your Bursts to your vintage SGs and ESes to your huge number of Historics. You would probably need a drone to get a complete group picture.

Very, very cool! I'm partial to the '61 myself.

I'm curious as to the output of the pickups on the '61. Have you ever checked them with a meter?

Great looking SG family shot!

Use dot own 2, a 62 Ebony Block PAF that now is played by a LPF member, but I couldn't depart with this one:

Too much Live at Leeds in my blood to not have a P90 Special for those moments. Thought it was a 1964, but some say it might be an early 1965. Big, round neck and growly P90s like the ones in 1957 Jrs.

MikeSlub,
I know the body shape and body depth are different but, have you ever had the chance to play and compare your 62 SG Specials alongside the earlier 59/60 double cut Les Paul Special ?
It would be so cool to have your perspective..
