• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Five years has passed since we lost Gary Moore. I will be watching Montreux 1990, while paying a toast with a few cold beers.

Thanks for the music, Gary Moore.

I believe you're a day early, but the sentiment is spot on so let's not split hairs. The 5 x CD Montreux live set is a great collection, I shall be marking the anniversary with that too.

It is the 6th of Feb in Japan. Yes, the Montreux DVD's are great, although I can't watch Gary's 2010 show.

Saw him a couple of times live, both times towards the latter part of his life, and always figured I'd get to see him again maybe next time he toured...:(

Such a shame that he was in the early stages of preparing an album of "Celtic Rock", in the vein of his Over The Hills And Far Away style, something a lot of fans had wanted to hear him go back to for years (I was perfectly happy with the Blues stuff, myself!) but that it was never to be realised.

Saw Gary with Thin Lizzy on Aug. 10, 1978 in Memphis at the Mid-South Colliseum. They opened up for Kansas. Here are some pics.

Wow, I can't believe it's been 5 years already. What a shame. One of my all time favorites

Yes 5 years have crept upon us quickly it seems.. Thank the good Lord that fans in the UK have been having tribute shows for Gary and there is one happening on the day of his birthday in April that is funding a proposed statue of Gary in Brighton I believe.
All quiet on the biography, Harry Shapiro still hasn't found a publisher and there appear to be no new releases either.
Just the equipment sale this summer. There needs to be more done, Gary deserves no less.

Yeah, I agree it's a real shame there have been no new releases since, IIRC, Blues For Jimi. I don't really agree with releasing things like unfinished demos, but there must be a ton of live material. There's some quality pro footage of BBM live, for instance, that deserves to be available outside of Youtube.

I really dont think his family or estate give sh-t. I mean, his grave site looked like it cost about $50, until people complained and it was tidied up.

It's unbelievable it's been 5 years already. When I found out on that Super Bowl Sunday, I was devastated. So much so that it prompted me to join here and the other Forum so I could commiserate and grieve with my fellow guitar players.

Like the Sydney show and Godin/64, I saw TL in '78 (at least I think that's when it was, it's been so long?). If I'm not mistaken, that was the tour Robo missed due to the fight he was in where he tore a tendon? Not that I didn't/don't like Robo, to the contrary, but I had been a GM fan for a number of years and really wanted (and was fortunate enough) to see him.

R.I.P. Gary. Thankfully we have your music and YouTube to remember you by.

I sit corrected. It was actually in '77. They toured with Queen (who BTW were phenomenal!).
