• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

... but they should.
I was thinking that. It'll be ten years next year...
That said, I vaguely remember there being an ownership dispute back in the 90s. I forget who it was, but a well known American guitarist had a 59 stolen during the 70s/80s, and was claiming that it was this guitar. Not accusin Gary or the dealer, just claiming it was the one he lost.
From what I remember, lawyers got involved, but it never got resolved, and both parties have since passed.
I think it's unlikely to leave the UK any time soon, though.

Wasn't it Craig Chicuso ( sorry for the butchered spelling ) from Jefferson Airplane (Starship ) ? They played a show I believe in West Germany and something happened with some type of delay which caused a riot to happen and the Burst got swiped . At the same time I believe the Greeny Burst is not the one in question as it was Gary Moore and now resides with Kirk Hammett . Maybe it was Red Eye that was Ed King's from Lynard Skynard who was held up at gun point in 1987 I believe and it took him 10 years to get Red Eye back as this was told in this months current edition of Guitar Player .

FWIW were Stripe to be done it would probably be an Artist model run rather than a Collector's Choice run, the main difference being that with the collector's choice models the focus is on the guitar whereas with the Artist models the focus is on the artist. So permissions would need to come from both the artist's estate as well as the current owner of the guitar. :salude

Last I heard, Stripe is still owned by the estate...
... El Gringo, it was Stripe that was the one they were disputing.

Hard to believe it's been that long. R.I.P. Gary.

It was actually Ronnie Montrose R.I.P.

Craig Chaquico's ("Lorelei" 9-2180) was stolen as well during a riot while they were playing in Germany. I think there's some agreement with the "owner" whereby he can use it or something to that effect? https://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/...59-Gibson-Sunburst-Les-Paul-guitar-back/page2
