• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Damn. Crickets...

Anywho, it turned out to be a '93. Mighty fine.

To say there's lots o' headroom is an understatement. Can someone at least recommend a bluesy pedal for this beasty?

Congrats! and enjoy.

I had a jtm45 years ago, I thought the Box Of Rock sounded great. Timmy OD might work well too. Very transparent.

I dig the Angry Troll by way huge or the new TC Electronic Mojo drive.

The Zevex Box of Rock works really well with a JTM45. It behaves like a cranked amp (with decent touch sensitivity) and the boost function is a nice feature too. It's a great way to get that classic Marshall gain at a reasonable volume.

I noticed the Timmy is still pretty pricey. I'll see if my local GC carries the BoR.

+1

I would also recommend you also check out the Zvex Distortron pedal. Its the dirt side only of the BOR with 2 switches. One for hi/lo gain and the other toggles between normal and 2 lowend cuts. You sacrifice the clean boost side for a more flexible dirt box.

Take a look at the Xotic RC Booster if you want absolute transparency and a lower overall gain structure. It won't change the native tone of the amp at all but will add a fair amount of juice. The Barber Direct Drive is another good choice. Still pretty colorless, but with the ability to add much more gain than the RC booster. I use both, individually and in tandem. They're both worth a listen. Just Google. Plenty of sound clips and vids.
