If you are going to play it I would go Banker all the way. Please at least look into his work.

I am weighing various options. I don't doubt his work. I am sure it is great.

I have been bitten by the Korina or otherwise the Flying V bug, and I am debating getting a CS one or a replica. These days Gibson only has mahogany at the moment. What would you guys pick if you could? Just curious to see the opinions. The first image is flipped because I am lefty.

Personally, I think I'd go a Korina route - be it replica or maybe search out a used Gibson, or even a Hamer version.
I've played those and they have a slightly brighter, almost hollow tone to the wood that the mahogany just doesn't have. Mahogany is greta, don't get me wrong, but |I would want the different tonality. YMMV.

I have decided on the proper venture. I'll post a photo when it arrives.

I'd also recommend Korina. Like others have said, noting wrong with mahogany but if you don't already have a korina guitar this is a perfect opportunity to go that route, especially if you already have other mahogany Gibsons. I have a Hamer Korina Vector Flying V with Wolfetone Legend pickups, and it sounds soooo good.

Has anyone played a Korina V or Explorer with an Ebony board? Any tone reports? I am contemplating using Ebony on my build.

Sure, here are pics of each. Both are korina with Brazilian fingerboards. The Explorer is a Veschenko, refinished by Protocaster Guitars before I bought it. LOVE IT...only downside to me is the two-piece body, but honestly I couldn't imagine a better playing Explorer...love everything else about it. Previous owner put in Wizz pickups and had stainless frets added when refinished. The guy I bought it from advised me that a run of Vs were also made by Vaschenko and finished by Protocaster...would buy one of those in a heartbeat.

The V was built by Sonicguitars who sells on Reverb. When I got it I couldn't believe the neck joint....looks terrible, like a Fender/Gibson hybrid, cut it like a Fender and glued it like Gibson. Was honestly going to return it until I played it..sounds great with the custom pickups it came with, has a really nice neck with c or very soft v, and plays like a dream despite that godawful neck joint...a joy to play and couldn't bring myself to return it. Might eventually do something to visually correct that neck joint though.

The neck joint on the V is actually original 1958 v style and not shoddy work.

Oh really? I didn’t realize ‘58 neck joints were any different from ‘59. Thought there was a step (neck narrower) just underneath the fretboard where it extends into body…similar to LPs.

Not claiming to be an expert but I have observed this aspect when pouring over photos of supposed original 1958 Gibson Flying V guitars.
