I played this one when it was for sale around 2009+/-. It has that 1960 "wide-flat" but not a "blade" neck. The seller later told me about the events of the sale which involved backstage passes and a meeting after the show! How many 1959/60 black ES345s are there? Five or six? Charlie Gelber has had most of them at one point or another. I do not believe he had this one.

Alongside this black ES345 was a blond 1959 ES345 which was also for sale and an amazing instrument. A previous owner swapped the Bigsby for a sideways trem in the early 1960s. It had pearl dots where the stop-tail would be and that classical 1959 "V* neck; fat yet fast. It remained for sale for some time. I regret not RUNNING back to the seller when he re-offered the blonde to me for a very, very fair price. To this very day I will occasionally I will awake early in the morning and feel the sting of regret! In facft, I'm feeling a bit of regret right now...dang.

I believe both guitars came through Gil Southworth in the 1990s.

When I tried out the black and blonde ES345s together, I brought my own sunburst 1959 ES4345 and my Super Reverb (BF) to compare. The neck on mine is very similar to the blonde ES345. I liked mine the best, but I suspect it was because the black and blonde 345s were case queens at the time and not properly set-up. In fact, the blonde only had five strings at the time!

Here's my '60 blonde leaning against a Gibson GA77 from the same year. They make a righteous noise together!!

This one and the white one Keef is playing in an earlier post are my two favorites out of a ton of gorgeous guitars in this thread.

Great, now I have another type of guitar I want one of. I better find a job $h*tting money soon.
