An 80s Gibson should not have a 6 digit number like that. :ganz

Ok the guitar in question was apparently sold to someone as a "60's refin" but it most likely isn't. The neck through portion of the body is cherry and I can see where the white has chipped it is cherry. I'll get photos up later but honestly I don't really care. For what I paid for it as long as it wasn't made in someones garage I didn't take a bath, hell even if it was the guitar sounds and plays fantastic. I am just curious.
BTW I searched the serial number up and it came up as either a 64, 73, or 74. I don't know...

I think we have gone on the wrong info. Your original post says 80s. Did you mean 60s?

No it was sold to someone as a 60's refin and then found out it was an 80's model who then sold it to Mark's who then sold it to me as such (I appologize in advance if the person who bought it was a forum member). Other than that I really don't know much about it.

80s?
Based on what?
Nothing in your descriptions supports 1980s. :hmm

All I was told was is that Mark from Mark's Guitar Loft thought it was an 80's model I didn't know because the serial number says it is from either the 60's or 70's. The serial number is stamped into the wood and it's a six digit number. Under the (horrible) white refin is cherry laquer. I'm thinking that someone just stamped a 60's number on to try to fool people. It's got old knobs, what I believe to be old pickups (on one there is a patent #) there is no date code on the pots and there isn't the wood stripes on the neck through part of the body. It really has too many issues to really be sure all I was wondering is if the number is legit, I'm leaning towards it being not. Either way I bought it as a player anyway. I'm also sure it isn't an original (I don't know much about them but I am pretty sure Mark would know enough to not let that one slip by.

The early 80s reverse Firebirds that I am familiar with did not have banjo tuners.
