Just received a Gibson LP classic in Cherry red. The guitar is beautifully made, nice dark rosewood board, good fretwork but... Is it normal for the new Classics to weigh over 9 lbs? The one I received weighs in at 9.7 lbs. 4.4 kg. I think that is quite heavy for a so called weight relieved guitar in my opinion... or is that considered a normal weight?

Also the bridge is bothering me,
It leans to the tail piece and the low e string is almost touching the screw. I can see the posts of the bridge are also tilted a little towards the bridge..
Maybe better to return this one?

Even with the weight relief they can still be on the heavy side. I have an '18 Classic with the 9-hole relief, and it's still a little over 9 lbs. When I purchased it, it was noticeably lighter than the non weight relieved models, but it's still pretty heavy.

I bought one of these in heritage cherry burst in November. It is rather heavy weighing just over nine pounds. The bridge doesn't look exactly square or strait but is deceiving because of the curvature of the surface. The intonation couldn't be better with no buzzing. This is my best sounding guitar by all means.

Time for an update, I returned the red one because of the weight and bridge. Yesterday I received a Cherry Sunburst classic, bought online at Thomann Germany. They ship the guitars in the sealed Gibson factory box, no checks or setup, so it was a bit of a gamble.
It came perfectly packed, double boxed. Setup out of the box was pretty good for a factory setup. Even the intonation was only a tiny bit off on a few strings.
Bridge is good, no weird forward or backward angle. Paint job and binding, etc. are great no paint bleeding on the binding, hardware all done well.
And a very nice weight is another bonus, shy off 4 kg, 8.75 lbs. I will check the trussrod today.
Fretwork is also great, smooth polished fretboard without tooling marks... Did they secretly move production to Japan ;), no seriously, this guitar was made 01/20/21 and they must again have really stepped up their game. All the typical Gibson minor cosmetic flaws we all have come to accept are absent. Only one minor thing, but easy fix, the fretboard is dry, like all factory fresh Gibsons20210306_094653.jpg
This is the best made regular production Les Paul I have ever seen and I have seen and tested a lot of them through the years. I am really happy I returned the Cherry Red one. .

Pretty normal weight wise . Even though it is weight relieved , if it wasn't it would be well over 10lbs .

Weight seems pretty normally. Maybe a little light, since these still have the 9 hole weight relief.

I bet your bridge would stop leaning if you raised the tailpiece to the point where the strings stop “pushing” on the bridge.

If you MUST deck the tailpiece, top wrapping may be a good solution for you…
