• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Gil Southworth...a criminally underappreciated vintage guitar treasure!!!

After Gil sent me the picture of Nicky when she had some color(which I posted in the other thread), he sent me the following pictures of just a small portion of the absolute KILLER guitars that he has bought and sold over the years.
Gil's one of our vintage guitar treasures. Thanks for sharing Gil!

Thanks Charlie for all the pics:2cool

I remember drooling over Gil's ads in Vintage Guitar...... regularly a full page spread back in the '90s(before I discovered the net).

Gil has probably OWNED more vintage guitars than I have seen in person.

Years ago, Phil Brown showed me his wonderful '59 Flying V ... upon which he had installed a Floyd Rose!

I was very relieved, when many years later, somebody told me that it was a Max, and not a real V.

I purchased my very first guitar from Gil in 1985 at his old store in DC on MacArthur Blvd. It was a late 70's Black Les Paul Custom (boat anchor). I remember spotting a 59 Burst on the wall and couldn't believe the 24K price tag. I've been hooked on guitars ever since. Purchased my first vintage Strat from his Bethesda store in 2000 and paid a paltry 5K for a nice Sunburst 63. Prices sure have changed.
