• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Gil Southworth...a criminally underappreciated vintage guitar treasure!!!

Old thread but reminiscing on this Saturday morning about growing up in D.C. during the 80s and going into Southworth Guitars in Bethesda as a teenager. I vividly remember racks of what I remember as pre-CBS strats and a multitude of vintage Gibsons. It was a formative experience for me. Now pushing 50 yrs old, I look back on those early days learning how to play guitar and those vintage instruments at Southworth were a window into a whole bunch of guitar magic and nostalgia. Oh to be 15 yrs old again and ogling over the vintage instruments at Southworth. It changed my life, literally.

I used to lust over the shop picture in the Southworth adds in Vintage Guitar and Guitar World, the dog was never for sale yet it was always a centre point of the shot!
