Long story, had trouble getting the neck off, but it was slightly loose in a couple of spots which allowed him to get a few degrees, looks like about 5 to 8 degrees...plays great./..I'll leave it alone for now

Played the 65' deluxe...neck and middle positions killer tone, warm and clean when I played soft even at the almost full guitar volume. Though the bridge pickup was a little thin and sort of weak...seemed like not the same volume as the neck even on 10

Got any pics of the guitar? Also, is the bridge P-90 far away from the strings?

I'm curious about the neck thing. Do you mean the neck was never off, but it was "rocked" in another position?

If the neck had never been removed, I'm why it wouldn't come out? That glue is heat and water activated and a partial removal sound like a time bomb? The neck angle should be in the 4 degree angle range and 8 must look like a violin?

I don’t believe it’s uncommon for some people to shim P90’s (particularly bridge P90’s) to raise them up for better pickup balance on 50’s Les Pauls.

A neck reset as you described would probably mean you’d have to jack the bridge up higher to get the action right which in turn takes the strings further away from the bridge pickup, this could be the cause of the imbalance maybe?
