My '75 Mocha Strat had been with my local guitar tech for a few months now.

It had been getting a fret job, as well as reinstalling the original bridge pickup and a replacement pickguard.

It was also cleaned up inside and out.

The neck on this guitar is one of the best Strat necks I've EVER played.

It's in between a thin a baseball bat neck, which is just perfect.

The combination of the neck and the very light body make it a great strat.

I'm really impressed with the original '74 gray back pickups. The sound really good with classic Fender spank.

This could turn out to be my #1 for a while.

Here's a before pic of the guitar:

Yeah, good job putting that back to more OG cosmetics. Killer guitar.

I love Mocha Fenders. Without exception, every single one I've played has been lightweight.

I have a Mocha '73 Tele Deluxe and it's a magic guitar.

Cool guitar. Yeah, the mocha ones were made with alder, eh? Not that seriously heavy ash that the rest were made of.

Thanks guys. I love this guitar. I'd never had the opportunity to play a '70's Stat with a smaller neck and weighed just a little over 7lbs.

I really hard finding one of these older strats that haven't been modded to hell.

I know there's not a lot of Big Head Strat love on the forums, but this one is a keeper 70's Strat.

It's funny, from an aesthetic standpoint, I used be small headstocks only, but now I prefer the big headstocks. Looks more "rock" to me for some reason.

Yea, I kinda see it that way too. I think Jimi gave the Big Headstock Strats credibility.

Yea Baby!!!

71-75 Strats can be still great - pickups are still neary the same as in late 60s and if the body is lightweight alder, you cant go wrong. :)

Nice fiddle! I love the tone of those early 70's strat pick ups. I do have to say, I like the tortoise shell pick gaurd better.

It's funny you mentioned liking the tortoise pickguard better. I've had other say that too.

That's the way I'd roll, especially if it's the original.

It's not original to the guitar as a black pickguard was standard on these 75's.

The tortoise was what it came with when I got it.

I guess if I ever get tired of the black one, I can always reinstall the tortoise.
