• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Great article on the Beano Burst!

In the midst of the nonsense being banded about, my own bit of silliness almost qualifies as evidence based material.

Not only did we find Beano, but we then proceeded to eat the bugger.....
Now all I need is some Bazoka bubble gum ( I will also accept Tops bubble gum as well seeing as it's almost the start of Baseball season )

I'm sure many have already done something similar, but I was messing around doing some colourisation in my video software on a few of those old Beano burst images. Doesn't add any extra regarding identification at all, but it does help bring the image a bit more to life :)

Cool , one time adding color enhances the image of something that we are so used to seeing in black and white ! Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

Please yerself, but the Krays were real people, not fictional, and they weren't the only ones by a long way.
Don't forget, Clapton was a drug addict... maybe his dealer turned up for payment?
He wasn't an addict until 1971/72. This was 6 years before. I doubt The Krays or anyother hoodlums gave a shit about a guitar as the money was small change to those guys compared to what they wanted to have. I'm sure they could make what that amount is off of one girl they would "rent out" for the night and they made much more than that off of their drug deals. Besides Clapton could get any amount of money he needed by calling Robt. Stigwood's office.

Maybe Kirk Hammet now has Beanos case! He has Greenie.
I remember a story from Gary Moore at some point describing how his flat was searched by the police for drugs and they destroyed Greeny's (Beano's) case, mentioning how the purple/pink lining was all torn out, so unfortunately, if that was really Beano's case, it's long gone.

I don’t think was destroyed completely, you can see Greeny’s case in some of the Gary’s album bootleg, and you can barely see in the photos of Hammett’s first Greeny meeting (when the guitar was presented to him to make a test in the selling proposal) that the case in which the guitar came was a modern one, so i think that, if it does exist anymore, the case still is in the Moore’s family possession

Of all my guitars, I am most proud to own the Aged Beano. It's on par with my real Les Paul's and is lightning fast to play. Very light weight. Explosive bridge humbucker. It's tough to beat. Furthermore, like the Custom Black Beauty Jimmy Page model, it was "recalled from memory" and totally spec'd by E.C. himself. So far as rejecting the color multiple times until Tom Murphy finally nailed the "Antiquity 'Burst" shade that it ended up as. Truly among the very best guitars and run Gibson has ever produced in ANY era.

I hope nobody steals it! 😂

Gary said the handle was broken off and he had to carry the guitar/case cradled in his arms because of such

Curious, I haven’t seen any photos of the case published and there were only three of us in the room.

I was wondering what happened to my case. 'Beano' itself is lying next to me on the couch. Been trying to learn Smoke On The Water all morning.
