• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Great picture of EC & Beano!

Haven't seen that one before thanks K_L.
I'm picking it was taken at the time when he was practicing with Jack and Ginger in July of '66 prior to Beano being stolen later that month.

The colour pics show the redish burgundy finish on the body and it being very much a plaintop which to my mind confirms the best known information to date that Beano was a '59.
Thanks for the vid Maxmc.

Fantastic photo and youtube clip, thanks all for sharing!

Something that I noticed (that I'm sure most of you have as well) as one of the more prominent identifiers of the guitar seems to be that darker finish spot on the upper bout right next to the fretboard/front strap button. McCartney's burst also has a similar finish feature. I first noticed it on the photos from the Mayall/Bluesbreakers sessions, and then started looking for it in other found photos as well. It appears in almost all of them, save for where that spot is either covered or obscured by camera flash. That was before seeing this photo, which is a nice closeup of that area, and sure enough, there it is, plain as day, which at least confirms to me that it is part of the guitar and not an artifact of the photo.

Following any new development or picture of Beano is like reading the next page in a mystery novel. Really enjoying it.
