• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Gregg Allman has died at age 69.

Oh no...

This week I listened to the Fillmore East record for the zillionth time - the ABB might have been the best live band of all time...what a stellar outfit they were.

I met Gregg once backstage in the late seventies after a concert and complimented him on his solo album that had just been released. I was amazed by his kindness and humility, and him taking time to come out of his dressing room just to talk to a spotty high school kid. RIP Gregg.

Very sad day for music lovers. ABB are a national treasure, and I'm grateful to have seen them several times.

Very sad. Glad he found a way to exorcize his demons before he left us. He and the band sure made us all some beautiful music. RIP.

Heaven just got a lot better though! I was fortunate enough to see them in all their glory back when I was young. With brother Duane and Dickey and all. I will never forget it. Huge effect on a young punk like me! It was awesome.

Question from journalist --- "How do you write a song Gregg?"

Answer --- "Sit on the floor with an acoustic guitar and don't stand up until you have written a song."

RIP brother Allman...thank you for all the great memories.:dude:

First time I saw the band was a month before Duane died...memories of that event still makes the hair on my neck stand right up in exhilaration.
